M4V and Zune
What is M4V
File extension M4V is used by multimedia files that contain audio data encoded using MPEG4 Part 14 multimedia container format. The name stands for MPEG-4 Visual. This file extension was originally introduced by Apple Inc in order to differentiate different types of multimedia encoded with MPEG-4 since the format itself specified single file extension MP4 for any kind of file. Many audio players support M4V files. These include WinAMP, Apple QuickTime and others.
What is Zune
Zune is a product line of portable media players manufactured by Microsoft. Zune players come in two variants, one hard-drive based and the other flash-memory based. Both play music, videos, and podcasts, display images, and receive (but not record) FM radio. WMV is supported on all models, and MPEG-4 and H.264 are supported for video on all models except the Zune 30. The MPEG-4 and H.264 formats are automatically transcoded to WMV by the Zune software when syncing to a Zune 30.
